One of the ministries that Pure Heart International does is our student homes. We provide housing for students that live in Northern Thailand in Hill Tribe areas who don’t have enough money to send their children away to school. Our Christian run homes are free and provide housing, food and mentoring. Orphans, Hill Tribes, poor families and at-risk students are who we are able to help through our homes.
Without proper education, children of Northern Thailand are prime targets for traffickers. Promised a future, money and a better life, they can be tricked into human trafficking. We want to stop that cycle by providing free housing and mentoring to students so they can get an education and have an opportunity for their future. Strategically located by government schools, our homes provide the necessary means for those children to be close to school and get an education.
We currently have 5 student homes- 2 in Chiang Rai, 2 in Mae Hong Son and 1 in Chiang Rai. While our volunteers are here this summer, they are getting the opportunity to help clean up the land at one of our homes in Mae Hong Son- Sunflower Home. One of our volunteers this year was here 2 years ago when we brought his team to this land and prayed for provision to build on it. Two years later, he's back and getting to see the answer to those prayers- an almost completed home, a caretaker’s home and lots of land to build on!
As with all our student homes, our goal is to make them self-sustainable. At the Sunflower Home, we have banana trees and we're working on filling in our fishpond (the volunteers helped clean it out from the overgrowth).
